About Us
Learning & Growing from the Environment
Lancaster Environment Action & Protection (LEAP) is an organisation based in Lancaster but working nationally to enable collective grassroots action to address the Climate Crisis. We work as an Environment Partner for Community Organisations, reaching many communities through their faith or community space. For instance we delivered over 2022-2024, a national project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, providing training on Environmental Management of Faith Spaces including cascading core messages by integrating sustainability into the organisational interactions with their communities. To create this impact, we worked in conjunction with Hindu Forum Britain, a national umbrella organisation with over 320 member organisations primarily across England and Scotland.
We also create grassroots impact by working with Schools to reach our message and enable action through large number of pupils and their families. For example we worked with a number of schools across Lancashire and were supported by Lancashire County Council to encourage students and families to undertake the activities in Green Idea Competitions, Green Craft Activities and in working through the Eco-Festival booklets to celebrate festivals sustainably.
Our proactive group of young people, LEAP Voices of Youth, also come together to work on projects with greatest positive impact for the environment.
Our activities are underpinned by ongoing research in areas related to grassroots action to counter climate change.
We also directly engage through networking events, webinars and surveys with like minded and committed residents, community leaders, children & families, environmental professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, political leaders, medical, educational, management & information technology professionals, to protect our beautiful planet.
